AFCON Showdown: Bafana Target Knockout Spot Against Zimbabwe

Everything to know about the decisive Group D finale, including
permutations, context, and confirmed lineups.

Bafana Bafana will look to secure their place in the Africa Cup of Nations
knockout stages when they face Zimbabwe this evening in a crucial Group D
finale.

The match comes after South Africa missed an early qualification chance,
falling 1-0 to Egypt on Friday courtesy of a Mohamed Salah penalty. Hugo
Broos’ side now sits second in the group, with their fate firmly in their
own hands: a win or a draw against Zimbabwe will see them advance to the
Round of 16.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, kept their own hopes alive with a 1-1 draw against
Angola. To progress, The Warriors must secure a victory, a feat they have
yet to achieve in their AFCON history. The two sides last met in a 2026 FIFA
World Cup qualifier a few months ago, playing to a goalless draw.
