Durban City is poised to announce its new head coach this coming weekend,
concluding a search that has attracted several high-profile names to the
recently promoted club.
Chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed in an exclusive interview with PSLSA
that the club is finalizing its decision from a confidential shortlist,
with the appointment set to be confirmed before the squad returns to
training.
“We will make an announcement later. Probably by the weekend, before the
players come back,” Kadodia stated.
The squad is scheduled to resume preparations on Monday, 29 December, and
the new coach is expected to assume duties immediately. Kadodia
acknowledged the shortlist but kept the candidates’ identities private,
saying, “I got a shortlist for the coaches but I can’t share the names at
this point.”
Local media have linked a host of experienced managers to the vacancy,
including Roman Folz, Zdravko Logarušić, Heiko Herrlich, and Edward
Iordănescu.
The club, which parted ways with former coach Gavin Hunt, currently sits
seventh in the Premiership standings with 22 points from 15 matches in its
return to the top flight.
