Mokwana’s Middle East Interest Grows Ahead of AFCON Showcase

Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is attracting fresh interest from
clubs in the Middle East during his loan spell at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hazem,
with his upcoming Africa Cup of Nations appearance poised to further raise
his profile.

The 26-year-old, recently recalled to the national squad for AFCON in
Morocco, credits his loan move for reviving his career and earning his
return to the international stage. Insiders close to the player confirm that
interest from other Saudi clubs is growing, but all discussions will be
paused until after the tournament.

“He has already been invited by Saudi clubs. We will wait for him to do well
in the national team… and hopefully that can bring more interest,” a source
revealed.

Mokwana’s agent, Pontsho Madumo of Cream Sport Management, echoed this
stance, confirming that any talks will be deferred until after AFCON. Madumo
also expressed confidence that strong performances could open doors to
larger clubs abroad.

Currently on a season-long loan from Tunisian giants Esperance, Mokwana has
made nine appearances for Al-Hazem, contributing one goal and one assist.
His pace and resurgence in Saudi Arabia have clearly put him back on the
radar, with AFCON now offering the perfect platform to solidify that
interest.
