Ndlanya on Chislett: “Can’t Judge a Player You Haven’t Seen Play”

Kaizer Chiefs legend Pollen Ndlanya has expressed difficulty in
assessing midfielder Ethan Chislett, citing the player’s absence from any
official match since joining the club.

Chislett, signed at the start of the season from England, is yet to make his
competitive debut for Amakhosi—a situation Ndlanya finds challenging to
evaluate.

In an exclusive interview with PSLSA, the former Chiefs striker emphasized
that without seeing a player in action, passing judgment is unfair and
impractical.

“I’m not sure what the problem is,” Ndlanya stated. “Management bought him
with confidence, so they must know the reason he isn’t playing. For me to
say whether they should keep him or not, I can’t comment on something I
haven’t seen.”

He explained that even a few appearances would provide a basis for
assessment. “If I’d seen him in one, two, or three games, I could speak on
that. But you can’t say someone isn’t good when he hasn’t done the job. It’s
like judging someone without seeing them work.”

When informed that Chislett’s registration and documents are in order,
Ndlanya maintained his stance. “How can I comment on someone I haven’t seen
play? Maybe if he’d featured in friendlies or a few matches, I could say,
‘the coach must play him, he looks good.’ But he hasn’t played. I don’t
know. It’s not fair to comment.”

Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga are the only new signings at Chiefs yet to
feature officially this season.
