Contrary to recent speculation, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine
Nabi is unlikely to make a swift return to the Betway Premiership, following
a similar stance to that of Orlando Pirates’ Jose Riveiro in preferring not
to coach a rival club in the same league.
PSLSA can confirm that an approach was made to the Tunisian tactician
regarding the recently vacant position at Durban City, following Gavin
Hunt’s departure. However, the discussions did not progress, with Nabi
reportedly hesitant about the suitability of the opportunity at this stage
of his career.
Sources indicate that the 60-year-old remains selective about his next move,
preferring a project that matches the ambition and profile of the clubs he
has previously managed. Since leaving Chiefs in October, Nabi has been
focused on personal time and long-term planning, with no immediate urgency
to re-enter South African domestic football.
While his name continues to circulate amid mid-season coaching changes, Nabi
appears content to wait for the right opportunity—one that aligns with his
expectations and career trajectory.
For now, a return to the Betway Premiership seems off the table, unless a
proposal emerges that fully meets his criteria.
