Kaizer Chiefs’ DStv Diski Challenge squad played out a 1-1 draw against
Leeds United on Tuesday, in their second match of their United Kingdom
preseason tour.
Following their opening encounter against Manchester United, the young
Amakhosi traveled to the Thorpe Arch Training Ground to face the
Championship side’s academy.
Coach Dillan Sheppard made just one change to his starting lineup, with
Naphtali Mokoena replacing Takalani Mazhamba in goal.
The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute after a fluid team move. Good
interplay between Manqoba Ozoemena, Pheko Phago, and Gopolang Taunyana set
up captain Thulani Mabaso, who finished calmly from close range.
Chiefs managed the remainder of the first half well, limiting Leeds to few
chances and ensuring Mokoena was largely untested before the break.
However, Leeds leveled the score seven minutes into the second half through
a penalty, calmly converted by Harry Gray.
The match concluded evenly, with both sides creating opportunities but
unable to find a winner. Sheppard’s team will now prepare for their final
tour fixture against Queens Park Rangers.
