Comitis Confirms Widespread European Interest in Cape Town City’s Teen Sensation

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has revealed that the club is
fielding significant international interest in their 17-year-old talent,
with about 15 clubs already making contact.

The teenage sensation’s rising stock was further highlighted by a former
scout for Belgian side K.A.A. Gent, who confirmed that the player is a major
talking point within European scouting networks at the ongoing FIFA World
Cup. This buzz builds on his previous assessments at top clubs like Chelsea
and Sporting Lisbon.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Comitis directly linked the player’s
growing value to his consistent performances. “What increases his value is
his performances. You could see now there are already about 15 clubs that
have contacted us for this player,” Comitis stated.

He also expressed relief that the player cannot leave until he turns 18,
which allows the club to benefit from his talents for the current season.
“We are happy to have him here because we need him for this season,” Comitis
said, adding that the club is carefully evaluating the right long-term move
for his development.

All eyes are now on the youngster’s upcoming performance against Italy,
which Comitis believes could intensify the pressure from suitors. “If he
plays the game very well, then we can be sure that the pressure will be on
from the teams,” he concluded.

Turning to the team’s form, Comitis praised the work of head coach Jan
Vreman and his staff, crediting them for the team’s recent improved results,
including a 1-0 win over Black Leopards that secured their third victory of
the season.

He emphasized that the team’s revival stems from implementing a distinct
“signature style of playing,” which took time for the players to fully
grasp. “Once you are playing good football then results are not by luck or
fluke… I think the hard work put in by the coaches, especially the head
coach is now starting to show,” Comitis said, expressing confidence that the
club can continue its momentum and be back in contention by Christmas.
