Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is considering a few new call-ups for the
upcoming international friendly against Zambia, using the match as a final
audition for his Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad.
With the final squad for AFCON fast approaching, the friendly on November 14
presents a low-pressure opportunity for players to impress. While Broos has
consistently stated he will not make sweeping changes, injuries and the
absence of key players like Relebohile Mofokeng and Themba Zwane have opened
the door for others.
It is believed that in-form players such as Keletso Makgalwa, Masindi
Nemtajela, and Puso Dithejane are among those who could receive a call-up
when the squad is announced on Thursday. This match is seen as a chance for
them to stake a final claim for a spot on the plane to Morocco.
The coach views this fixture as the perfect platform to widen his player
pool without the high stakes of a competitive World Cup qualifier. While the
core of the team is settled, this is a crucial chance for fringe players and
newcomers to prove they belong in the national setup.
