Pressure Mounts for Chiefs as They Return to League Action

Fresh from securing their place in the CAF Confederation Cup group
stages, Kaizer Chiefs turn their focus back to the Betway Premiership,
urgently needing their first league victory since August.

The team’s co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, have several key
lineup decisions to make for tonight’s clash against Durban City in KZN,
complicated by injuries to important players. The absence of Glody Lilepo,
who was injured last weekend against AS Simba, is a significant blow.

This setback, however, could create an opportunity for Asanele Velebayi to
earn his first start for the Soweto giants, with Gaston Sirino also in
contention for a spot in the first eleven.

In midfield, there is a strong possibility that former Mamelodi Sundowns
player Lebohang Maboe could make his full debut after appearing as a
substitute last weekend. The promising Mfundo Vilakazi is also a likely
starter, having impressed the coaching staff with his recent form.

Leading the line, Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro is expected to get
another chance to lead the attack. Having opened his goal-scoring account
for Amakhosi against Simba, his position is further strengthened by Khanyisa
Mayo’s potential absence through injury.

Possible line-up: Brandon Petersen, Reeve Frosler, Zitha Kwinika, Aden
McCarthy, Bradley Cross, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Lebohang Maboe, Mfundo
Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi, Etiosa Ighodaro.
