Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles in front of goal continued on Wednesday night,
playing to a frustrating goalless draw against Siwelele FC at FNB Stadium.
The result extends the team’s winless streak in the Betway Premiership to
four matches.
Co-coach Cedric Kaze reflected on a night of missed opportunities, pointing
to a lack of clinical finishing as the primary culprit. While acknowledging
the challenge of a congested fixture list, he admitted the team must be more
ruthless.
“It’s a tough week, with all the games every three days, it’s very hard to
keep the consistency,” Kaze told SuperSport. “I think overall the
performance was good, not very good but was good.”
He identified defensive instability, allowing Siwelele crossing
opportunities, but zeroed in on the team’s attacking woes. “In this kind of
games, we had the opportunities to score. You don’t have to play well every
day but you just need to put the ball in the net… unfortunately, we don’t
seem to be enough clinical – you know be enough lucky in front of the net.”
Despite acknowledging Siwelele’s resilient defensive record, Kaze emphasized
that a club of Chiefs’ stature should be converting its chances, especially
at home.
“But you know, we’re at home, we’re Kaizer Chiefs and we had the balls,
opportunities to score,” he stated. “We were controlling the game and I
think we had to do better.”
With the winless run now at four games, the pressure is mounting for Chiefs
to find a solution to their scoring drought.
