Kaizer Chiefs have officially closed the chapter on Nasreddine Nabi’s
brief tenure, announcing a mutual agreement to part ways with the head
coach. The decision ends a period of intense speculation and uncertainty
that has clouded the club for weeks.
The Soweto giants confirmed the news in an official statement on Friday,
following initial reports by the Siya crew. The club described the
separation as the result of “constructive engagements” and emphasized the
“amicable” and “respectful” nature of the decision.
“Kaizer Chiefs FC acknowledges and thanks Coach Nabi for his contribution
during his tenure with the Club and extends best wishes for his continued
success in future endeavours,” the statement read. Nabi reciprocated the
sentiment, expressing his “appreciation to Kaizer Chiefs FC, its leadership,
staff, players, and supporters.”
This announcement brings clarity to a situation that began in mid-September
when the club first confirmed Nabi was “not with the team” as discussions
over his future were ongoing. According to earlier reports from Soccer
Laduma, the delay in finalizing the exit was due to negotiations over a
financial settlement, which has now been resolved.
With Nabi’s departure confirmed, the interim coaching team of Khalil Ben
Youssef and Cedric Kaze, who oversaw the team’s recent Carling Knockout
penalty shootout loss to Stellenbosch FC, will continue to manage first-team
duties for the time being.
