Reports of Folz’s Yanga Exit Denied, Coach “Still in Charge”

Contrary to widespread media reports in Tanzania, Romain Folz has not
been sacked as head coach of Young Africans (Yanga), according to sources
close to the club.

Tanzanian outlets had claimed the Frenchman was relieved of his duties
following the team’s recent goalless draw with newly promoted Mbeya City, a
result that disappointed some fans.

However, sources have refuted these claims, stating that Folz remains firmly
in his position. “The reports are not true,” one source told Soccer Laduma.
Another added, “Coach Folz is still in charge of the team. There’s been no
communication from the club about any changes, so those reports should be
treated as rumours.”

Since his appointment in July 2025, Folz has already led Yanga to a
Community Shield victory and secured their progression to the second
preliminary round of the CAF Champions League with a dominant 5-0 aggregate
win.

For now, the 35-year-old coach is said to be focused on preparing the team
for their upcoming matches as the reigning Tanzanian champions aim to retain
their league title and advance in continental competition.
