Chiefs Coach Provides Mayo Fitness Update After Debut Goal

Kaizer Chiefs’ new striker, Khanyisa Mayo, made an immediate impact on
his debut by scoring in the team’s 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants. However,
stand-in coach Khalil Ben Youssef clarified that the player is still
building his fitness.

Mayo, who was substituted in the 59th minute, had his playing time
pre-planned. “We know that he is not ready to make 90 minutes,” Ben
Youssef explained, while praising the striker’s goal-scoring start and
promising more to come.

The coach also provided updates on other new signings, Nkanyiso Shinga and
Ethan Chislett, stating they are training well but are awaiting the right
moment for their competitive debuts.

The draw leaves Chiefs six points behind league leaders Sekhukhune United
as they prepare for their next match in the CAF Confederation Cup.
