Rumours are swirling in local football circles that Orlando Pirates may
be preparing a late move for one of Stellenbosch FC’s standout performers,
with speculation intensifying on transfer deadline day.
The player in question is Andre De Jong, who has reportedly been spotted
in Gauteng.
Whispers suggest that the New Zealand international could be heading to
Orlando, though at this stage it remains unconfirmed.
De Jong, 28, has been a reliable figure for Stellies after previous stints
with AmaZulu and Royal AM in the PSL. His versatility has made him an
asset wherever he has played. This season alone, he has already featured
in 10 matches, providing one assist.
When approached for comment, De Jong’s camp was unavailable, while both
Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates declined to respond to queries at the
time of publication.
As it stands, De Jong remains a Stellenbosch player—but with just hours
left in the transfer window, he could be wearing new colours sooner than
expected if the rumours prove true.
Soccer Laduma’s Siya crew will continue to monitor developments and
provide updates on any movement regarding the talented forward.
